Aquariums are seductive.  They provide us with a window into a world of wonderment that we would not normally encounter in our everyday lives.  We found ourselves fascinated by nature being provocatively packaged, by the human impulse to collect and contain, and the theatre being acted out on both sides of the plexiglass.  These photographs were made in public aquariums around the world from 1998 to 2002, culminating in our book, “Aquarium” - published by Aperture in 2003.
