COMMISSIONS | TRUE STORIES
In 1985 David Byrne, the avant-garde artist and leader of “The Talking Heads” band, was making a Hollywood movie called, “True Stories.” I was commissioned to make pictures about anything and everything—on the set, off the set, no restrictions. The film was a portrait of middle-American suburbia, a tongue-in-cheek comedy with characters inspired by tabloids. My work in the Dallas area, however, was more about the blurring of the boundaries between reality and cinema. Photos by Len Jenshel
